Matt Wertz – Thing about Freedom – Tuesday Night Tunes
Good Morning. It’s not Tuesday but I can’t change the theme. Sometimes the thought or music doesn’t come on Tuesday and I don’t like to force it so here we are this morning.
I stumbled onto this guy while fooling around with a new smart watch. Not sure if it was coincidence or because google leverages my playlist to find things I like. I’m guessing leverage but I don’t really care how it got in my list, I like it.
He writes about Freedom and how it’s misunderstood. “Just because you can doesn’t mean you should”. How much of your life has been determined by things you did that maybe would have been better not done? Did you ever do something you never thought you would?
Did that make you think of something bad or good?
I have stuff in both categories. Good and Bad.
The older I get the more I think about the Good. Breaking through 60 gets you to thinking about the end of the road. We’re not sure where it is but we know it’s coming up. Just not sure how much farther we get to travel but still enjoying the trip.
My journey of being self employed has run about 20 years now and I love the fact I get to choose what I do today. I choose to write this down. To share it with anyone who reads it and I don’t’ know who will. I was encouraged by one who does yesterday and it made me smile. I glad someone reads it, even if it’s just one.
So that journey of self employed is a good one. It is more about faith and trust than pure effort. It’s hard work for sure but there is no assurance of a paycheck at the end of the work. I’m ok with that. I find patterns that do work and systems that do work and run with them.
Look for patterns that work in your life and repeat. Things like “spend less than you earn”, “help others get what they want and you’ll get what you want” or “you reap what you sow so don’t grow weary of doing good”.
That’s enough for today. I hope you get to play Mark’s song and marinate on it for a minute.
Thanks for listening,
Jerry Robertson
