Why I made this…

I’ve lived a long time, over 7 decades and counting.

I grew up before computers, the internet and mobile phones. That means there is no evidence of the stupid things I did (thank God!). I’m a bit of an anomaly in that I have embraced the technology and use it every day for someone my age. I guess that speaks to my engineering background.

I bought my first computer in 1980 and developed the skills necessary to make a career out of it. That was my first career as an electrical and software engineer that worked on industrial automation. That got me all over the world working in the automotive assembly plants. Then I decided to move into real estate (to stop travelling). I guess that makes me a recovering engineer.

My second career was working in real estate sales, recruiting, and coaching. I’ve been with Keller Williams since 2003 and got my brokers license in about 2008. The thought crossed my mind to start my own real estate brokerage, but I had a great teacher, who taught us the real cost of doing that. It was more cost-effective to stay at KW, and I’m glad I did.

I’m pursuing being a chaplain for my 3rd career and while I’m doing that I handle the real estate business that comes to me. I don’t chase that business but let it come to me as a result of my past work, building relationships and helping past clients and their friends.

While I’m doing all that, I feel the need to continue to write. Writing is the doing part of thinking.

I’ve had a blog for years at RealtyCaffeine.com (781 articles). This is from my real estate business, and I’ve been writing there for years, starting in 2007. I saw my business increase as a direct result of writing and as I contemplate my next phase, I’m going to spend some of the time I have writing more, but it won’t be focused on real estate.

I’ve written all kinds of things, from Tuesday Night Tunes and house concerts, to current market conditions and news of the day. Come check out what I’m writing about now and see if you like it. This is The Caffeine Life. After all, caffeine is to the body, what the Word of God is to the soul.
